Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the three-lane road bridge at Koilwar in Bhojpur district. Its poster has been put up from Bhojpur to Patna. CM Nitish’s face is missing in this poster. Initially the matter seemed political, later it was found that Nitish Kumar was not invited to the program. However, this is not the first time when both the parties are face to face on some issue. Even before this, on many occasions both the parties have been accusing each other and speaking against each other. The leaders of both the parties do not desist from sparring on each other. The latest case is pointing towards this political turmoil. JDU leader and minister in Bihar government Ashok Choudhary even told this program to BJP.
Nitish Kumar’s old feud with Gadkari
During a program in Patna, without naming Gadkari, Nitish Kumar had said that ‘I don’t know, ministers promise to work with him but that work is not being done. There is an outstanding of Rs 970 crore for the repair of NH but till now it has not been received. Nitish Kumar also accused the Union Road Transport Ministry of not paying Bihar’s dues of Rs 970 crore. Then Nitish Kumar had said that this amount was spent by the state government on its own behalf on the maintenance and repair of the National Highway, which has not been received yet.
Nitish Kumar is also target of Gadkari
Not only Nitish Kumar, Nitin Gadkari has also raised questions on the way Nitish Kumar works. In a press conference, he had said that due to the poor working style of the Nitish government, the road-rail bridge project worth two lakh crore rupees is stuck. He had accused the state government of failing to acquire land. Nitin Gadkari had directly accused Nitish Kumar. Then the Chief Minister’s Secretariat had rejected it through a press note. Then the matter came in the limelight. But Gadkari continued to attack the state government. When a question was asked in the Lok Sabha on a road project in Bihar, Gadkari said that ask your district collector to speed up land acquisition. We cannot start any work without 80 per cent land acquisition.
Then Nitish had demanded from Nitin Gadkari
The rhetoric of both was also seen in the inauguration program of Mahatma Gandhi Setu connecting Patna with North Bihar. Nitish Kumar reminded Nitin Gadkari that we had demanded two from you. In this we had said that a four-lane bridge should be constructed parallel to Vikramshila Setu. Nitish Kumar requested Nitin Gadkari and said that the second thing you will not forget that we had told you to make a direct expressway to connect Buxar to Varanasi directly, this is a big task. The road that exists now goes a long way. People will be benefited by its creation. Just my request, keep this in mind a little. Then Nitish Kumar got a positive response from Gadkari.
Gadkari to Nitish – Please make Banaras straight expressway from Buxar, take care of me
Bihar also mentioned in the bridge collapse incident
Recently, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari gave another statement regarding Bihar. He was surprised at the statement of a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer who blamed “strong winds” for the collapse of part of an under-construction road bridge in Sultanganj. In a program, he said, ‘A bridge had collapsed on April 29 in Bihar. On asking his secretary the reason for this, he replied that it was due to strong wind and mist. The Union Minister wondered how can an IAS officer believe such an explanation? Gadkari said, ‘I cannot understand how the bridge can collapse due to wind and mist? There must have been some mistake due to which this bridge collapsed. During the program the Minister stressed on the need to bring down the cost of construction of bridges without compromising on the quality. The construction work of this bridge between Sultanganj to Aguani Ghat in Bihar started in the year 2014. Although, its construction was to be completed in 2019 itself but it has not been completed yet.
