Official sources said the Home Minister will inaugurate a ‘floating border post’ of the Border Security Force (BSF) at Hingalganj on Thursday morning and lay the foundation stone of the Friendship Museum at Haridaspur.
After this, in the evening, the Union Minister will address a public meeting in Siliguri.
Sources said that the Home Minister will visit three bighas of the Indo-Bangladesh border on Friday and interact with BSF personnel there.
After attending the program at Victoria Memorial Hall in Kolkata on Friday, the Union Minister will hold a meeting with the office bearers at the state BJP headquarters.
Shah’s visit to West Bengal comes at a time when the party is trying to strengthen its organizational set-up in the state, which has been plagued by internal strife and defections since the 2021 assembly election results.
BJP sources said he would also visit the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office there.
A senior state BJP leader said, “In Siliguri, Amit Shah will garland the statues of great Gorkha mountaineer Tenzing Norgay and Cooch Behar Rajbanshi leader Thakur Panchanan Barma. There he will address a public meeting and leave for Darjeeling in the evening.
