The US Department of Justice announced that the United States, together with the UK, Germany and the Netherlands, managed to stop the activities of a botnet allegedly located in Russia called RSOCKS.
“The US Department of Justice, together with law enforcement partners in Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, destroyed the infrastructure of a Russian botnet known as RSOCKS, which hacked into millions of computers and other electronic devices around the world.the message says.
“During this operation, an advanced criminal organization located in Russia was liquidated, which was engaged in cyber-hacking in the United States and other countries”– quotes the Ministry of Justice the words of FBI agent Stacy Moya, who is involved in this case.
It is noted that the operation to combat the hacker network began in 2017. Then the American authorities found that cybercriminals were able to hack about 325 thousand electronic devices. The agency has not yet disclosed the names of possible defendants in the case, which is being considered in the Southern District of California.
