But Power Corporation does not want to lag behind in increasing the burden of the bill (UP Electricity Bill Hike). This is the reason that this time by not giving a direct rate hike proposal, the corporation is preparing to increase the burden of higher bill by changing the slab. The corporation has proposed to change the slab to the regulatory commission. If the proposal is approved, the bill for urban domestic consumers will increase from Rs 25 to Rs 150. At the same time, the bill of urban shopkeepers will increase from Rs 180 to Rs 1090 every month. Due to slab change, more than 90 lakh domestic urban consumers of the state will have to pay more bills.

This category of consumers will be affected
According to the proposal given by the corporation in the regulatory commission, the electricity of the domestic consumer consuming more than 100 units every month will become expensive. Till now, domestic consumers using more than 500 units of electricity had to pay a bill of Rs 7 per unit. Now this bill will have to be paid on consumption above 300 units. Till now, consumption above 150 units has to be billed at the rate of Rs 5.50 per unit. If the new proposal is approved, electricity bill will have to be paid at the rate of Rs 5.50 per unit for consumption above 100 units.

Slab change proposal has been rejected twice before
State Electricity Consumer Council President Awadhesh Kumar Verma said that the slab change has been proposed. He has already given corporation twice. But even after this, the corporation is pressurizing to change the slab. The council chairman said that the corporation does not want to increase the electricity rates directly through the backdoor. Awadhesh said that when companies are getting about Rs 22,045 crore surplus from the consumers of the state, then instead of reducing the electricity rates, why preparations are being made to increase the rates by changing the slabs.
