After making its foray into the electric scooter segment, startup automaker Ola Electric is now preparing to launch electric cars. For this, the company has signed a deal with Ramkripa Anantan’s company Crux Studio. Now Ola will design the upcoming electric car by the same team of Crux Studios who designed luxurious cars like Mahindra Thar, XUV700, XUV500 and XUV300. He made his debut at Ola Electric as a Design Consultant.
Ola is receiving overwhelming response from the customers of the S1 Pro electric scooter. Ola e-scooter sales are doing well despite scooter glitches coming to the fore in many parts of the country in the past. Within a few months of its launch, Ola Electric has become the largest seller of electric scooters, surpassing Hero Electric, the sales leader for years.
After the success of electric scooters, now the company is moving towards its next plan to launch an electric car. For this, the company’s partnership with Ramkripa Anantan is said to be important. Ananthan has recently been seen at Ola’s office in Bangalore.
Ramkripa Anantan holds a degree from the Industrial Design Center, IIT Mumbai. He is also a graduate in Mechanical Engineering from BITS Pilani. He worked with Mahindra Automobile Group for more than a decade. The credit for designing Mahindra’s ‘XUV’ roots goes to his team. Ramkripa Anantan designed the TUV300, XUV500, XUV300, Marazzo and Thar.
He also spearheaded the design of the new generation Thar. Mahindra’s upcoming new Scorpio (2022 Scorpio) has also been designed by Anantan’s team. The car has been spotted several times in its camouflage (covered) form and is set to be launched in India this year.
Let us tell you that Mahindra & Mahindra Group is preparing to split its vehicle business into three parts. Mahindra Group has started a restructuring process to split its automobile business into three separate entities. According to the information, the group will divest its electric vehicle (EV), tractor and passenger vehicle businesses through a demerger process.
As per reports, the Mahindra Group is managing investments for its EV unit and is looking to tie it up with Italian design house Automobili Pininfarina to form a separate company.
