Supreme Court Justice MR Shah’s condition stable after angioplasty, had chest pain during Himachal visit

New Delhi: Supreme Court judge Justice MR Shah has undergone angioplasty and his condition is stable. He was brought from Himachal Pradesh to Delhi by plane after falling ill. The hospital said in a statement on Friday that the condition of Justice MR Shah after angioplasty is stable and he is expected to be discharged in a few days.

It said, “Justice MR Shah, a sitting Supreme Court judge, suffered chest pain while traveling in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh on June 16.” He was immediately airlifted to New Delhi and admitted under the supervision of Dr Atul Mathur, Executive Director (Cardiology) at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, Okhla, the statement said.

The hospital said, ‘After a detailed in-depth investigation, Dr. Mathur decided to undergo an angioplasty procedure to open the blocked arteries and restore normal blood flow to the heart. The procedure was successfully carried out on the same day by Dr. Mathur at around 8 pm.’ “The process went smoothly and thereafter, Justice Shah was shifted to the ICU,” the statement said. Presently his condition is stable. Chief Justice NV Ramana had visited Justice Shah at the hospital on Thursday and inquired about his health from the doctors treating him.
