Azad offers to Anand
There is a dialogue from Hollywood’s famous film ‘The Godfather’ that I will give him such an offer, which he will not be able to turn down. Sonia also made a similar offer to some prominent rebel leaders of G-23. Sonia herself met G-23 leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma at the Congress’s fourth Chintan Shivir in Udaipur and offered them to join the party’s main task force. Not only this, Sonia also proposed to send both the leaders to Rajya Sabha. It was an offer that both the leaders could not refuse.
The challenge facing the Gandhi family is over
By forming a task force for Mission 2024 after the Chintin camp, Sonia and the party have made one thing clear that the Congress will now forget the old things and move forward. Apart from this, it has also been made clear that the party is not going to give much importance to dissent and no one can challenge the leadership of Gandhi family.
It became a game as soon as Hooda was hit.
Former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who was among the rebels of G-23, was taken care of by the top leadership. Hooda was the only leader among the G-23 leaders who had a strong ground hold. Hooda got a lot of attention during the Chintan Shivir.
Task force formed, one arrow many targets
Soon after the meeting, Congress formed a task force and political affairs group for Mission 2024. In the political affairs group were G-23 rebels Ghulam Nabi Azad, Anand Sharma and Rahul Gandhi. The Task Force for 2024 includes P Chidambaram, Mukul Wasnik, Jairam Ramesh, KC Venugopal, Ajay Maken, Priyanka Gandhi, Randeep Singh Surjewala and Sunil Kanugoli.
Sibal left the party and Sonia’s mission was successful
In fact, Kapil Sibal, the most important character of G-23, had demanded that the leadership of the Congress be given to someone else instead of the Gandhi family. In such a situation, some rebels of G-23 were uncomfortable with this demand. The party had invited Sibal to the Chintan Shivir but he knew that his pulse was not going to melt here. He resigned from the party on May 16, the day after the camp was over. As soon as he left the party, the last thorn in targeting the Gandhi family also came out.
Sonia made me play like a leader
Sonia Gandhi ended the turmoil in the party like a good leader after two-and-a-half months of hard work. He went on a slew of tricks to quell the demand for a change in the top leadership. From Udaipur Chintin Camp to Mission 2024 Task Force, Political Affairs Group constituted. With this bet of Sonia, there is nothing left for the opponents to move forward. There has been a consensus in the Congress that Azad should be sent to Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan. At the same time, Rajya Sabha ticket has been confirmed for Anand Sharma as well. In such a situation, Sonia has cleverly ended the ongoing turmoil in the party.
Became invincible in the party in 1999
In May 1999, just before the Lok Sabha elections, three veteran leaders Sharad Pawar, PA Sangma and Tariq Anwar rebelled against Sonia Gandhi. He said that Sonia Gandhi is a woman of foreign origin, so she cannot be the destiny maker of India. The trio broke away from the Congress to form the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Now Tariq Anwar is back in Congress. Sonia expressed grief over this incident and wrote a letter in which she said that India is her motherland which is dearer to her than her life. With this letter, he resigned from the post of party president. The party urged Sonia to withdraw her resignation. On the other hand, Sharad Pawar, PA Sangma and Tariq Anwar were expelled from the party for rebellion.
In 2004, Manmohan was made a big bet.
Sensing the adversity, Sonia threw a big dice after the 2004 Lok Sabha election results. He made Manmohan Singh the Prime Minister. Sonia said that she listened to her conscience.
