‘Satyagraha of Congress is pure politics…’, Sambit Patra accused the opposition of misleading the Agneepath scheme

New Delhi: Amid protests against the Agnipath Military Recruitment Scheme, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday accused the opposition of playing politics on the issue of national security and armed forces and creating instability for the government. BJP’s national spokesperson Sambit Patra termed the ‘Satyagraha’ of the Congress as pure politics in support of the protest against the Agneepath scheme. Congress MPs and leaders on Sunday performed ‘Satyagraha’ at Jantar Mantar in Delhi in support of the youth opposing Agneepath, the new scheme brought by the Central Government for recruitment in the armed forces.

During the protest, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi urged the youth to identify fake nationalists and form a real patriotic government in the country. He urged that the new military recruitment scheme could be disastrous for the youth and the military.

‘Agneepath scheme will destroy the youth and the army…’, appeals to Priyanka Gandhi – recognize the fake nationalists

On Priyanka Gandhi’s statement, Patra said, ‘Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has said that her aim is to topple the government. It is clear from this that he is not concerned about the armed forces and youth of the country. It’s sad.’ “There should be no politics on subjects of national importance. But politics is happening on such a subject and the officers of the armed forces have to come forward and explain to them (about the Agneepath scheme).

‘Misconception is being spread…’, Rajnath Singh said, Agneepath scheme implemented with a lot of banging

BJP spokesperson said, ‘Why is the opposition misleading? After all, what does the opposition want?’ Terming the Agneepath scheme as a necessary reform, Patra said that this scheme will increase the number of youth in the armed forces. He said that the proposal to reduce the average age of soldiers in the army was given in 1989.

Patra said that at present the average age of the Indian Army is 32 years and this is to be reduced to 26 years through the Agneepath scheme. He said that all the committees after the Kargil war had suggested such reforms in the armed forces.
