New Delhi: BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra said on Sunday that the rate of rape has come down in many states after the Modi government’s emphasis on building toilets in villages. Addressing a program at the Delhi BJP office here, Patra underlined the achievements of the eight years of the BJP government at the Centre.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visits to girls’ schools and interacted with women realized that the drop out rate of girls was higher than that of boys. Patra said research has shown that this was because schools did not have toilets.

Sambit Patra said that most of the rape incidents happened when women went out to defecate in the dark. Patra said that a toilet is associated with many aspects, including dignity and health. He further said, in many states, the rape rate has come down because the prime minister has given ‘izzatghar’ (toilets) to women.

He said that no one ever thought that a prime minister could talk about toilets while addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort, but Modi did. Modi is the first Prime Minister of the world, who talked about toilets. At present, more than six lakh villages in the country have become open defecation free.

Before 2014, the country was trapped in the quagmire of corruption, now it has become a ray of hope for the world: Modi
Patra also targeted Congress and AAP on the issue of corruption. He said that in just 15 days after AAP came to power in Punjab, Arvind Kejriwal had to sack a minister due to corruption, while in the eight years of Modi government’s tenure, there was no one paise corruption case against any cabinet minister at the Centre. Not accused.
