Rupee Vs Dollar: The rupee on Monday strengthened by 12 paise to 77.93 against the US dollar in early trade on softening crude oil prices.
The rupee had gained five paise to close at 78.05 in the previous session. Forex traders said selling by foreign funds, a weak trend in the domestic equity market and a firming dollar overseas restricted the rupee’s gains.
Rupee opened at 77.98
Rupee opened strong at 77.98 against the US dollar in the Interbank Foreign Currency Exchange market. Then it rose to a price of 77.93, which shows an increase of 12 paise over the previous closing price. For the last few days, there is an improvement in the movement of the rupee, although as soon as it improves, some external reasons come and reduce its gains.
Dollar index status
Meanwhile, the dollar index, which shows the position of the US dollar against the six major currencies, fell 0.30 percent to 104.38. Global oil benchmark Brent crude futures slipped 0.26 percent to $112.83 a barrel.
