Rooftop solar power panels to be installed in all installations of central paramilitary forces

New Delhi, May 7 (PTI) In a massive green initiative, the Union Home Ministry has decided to install rooftop solar panels on all the installations of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in the country.

With this move of the Ministry of Home Affairs, 71.68 MW of solar power will be generated and green energy will be used in a large number of security installations across the country.

In furtherance of the efforts of the Central Government towards promoting renewable energy and moving towards a zero-carbon economy, the Central Paramilitary Forces and National Security Guard (NSG) campuses, the Home Ministry said in a statement. It has been decided to install solar power panels.

A Memorandum of Understanding in this regard was signed on Friday in the presence of the Union Home Secretary and the Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The MoU has been signed between the Ministry of Home Affairs and Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI).

As per available data, the total solar power generation capacity of SECI in the campuses of CAPFs and NSG is 71.68 MW. CRPF, CISF, BSF, ITBP and SSB come under CAAF.
