Power turnover at IEX declined 1.7 percent to 7574 million units in April

New Delhi, May 5 (PTI) Trading volumes on the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) in power trading market declined by 1.7 per cent to 7574 million units in April as compared to the same month last year.

This decrease was due to the rise in electricity prices due to supply constraints.

“In the first month (April) of the new financial year 2022-23, the Energy Exchange saw a turnover of 7574 million units across all segments,” IEX said in a statement. Under this, a business of 6989 million units was done in the conventional electricity market, 336 million units in the green power market and 249 million units in the REC (Renewable Energy Certificate) market.

According to the statement, business volume declined by 1.7 per cent in April 2022 as compared to April 2021 due to power supply related constraints. During this time electricity was expensive in all market segments.

The total quantity in April last year was 7702 million units.
