Petrol Diesel Supply: The Central Government has given clarification regarding the shortage of petrol and diesel in the country. The government has said that there is no shortage of petrol and diesel in the country. And the production of petrol and diesel is enough to meet the sharp jump in demand. In fact, talk of shortage of petrol and diesel was coming out from many parts of the country. There were reports of fuel shortage at petrol pumps especially in Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
According to the Petroleum Ministry, in the last few days, there has been a huge rush at PSU retail outlets in some areas. This has increased the delay and waiting time for the customers. This rush has given rise to speculations of shortfall in supply by state-run oil companies. According to the ministry, it is true that in some states, there has been a huge increase in the demand for petrol and diesel at particular places. The demand for petrol and diesel has increased by 50% during the first half of June 2022 as compared to the previous year. Especially in states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka, more demand has been seen. The Petroleum Ministry said that these are the states where large quantities of petrol and diesel are supplied by private petroleum marketing companies and these places are far away from the supply points i.e. terminals and depots.
According to the Petroleum Ministry, the increase in the demand for petrol and diesel has come due to agricultural activities. So the buyers of wholesale petrol and diesel are now buying from retail petrol pumps, due to which the problems have also increased. Private marketing companies have reduced sales, due to which its burden has come on government companies.
