Can go to jail for five to eight years
Imran Khan and his associates could face 5-8 years in prison and a hefty fine for these charges. Earlier, Imran Khan distanced himself from the sloganeering at Masjid-e-Nabvi. According to a media report on Saturday, Imran Khan said that he cannot even think of asking anyone to raise slogans in the Pak Masjid. In an interview to ARY News, Khan said that this is the first time that immigrant Pakistanis living in the US, UK and Europe have come out in the open to protest the overthrow of his government.
Imran said – this is the reaction of the general public
In a part of the interview that surfaced, Imran Khan said, ‘This is the reaction of the general public. We are not asking them to come out (for protest).’ He said that they are angry about what happened, which they are coming forward to express. Significantly, the newly appointed Prime Minister of Pakistan, Sharif was on a three-day visit to Saudi Arabia with a delegation. The delegation also included Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari. This was Sharif’s first foreign visit after assuming office.
