The crucial meeting was held hours after Modi returned from a three-day visit to Germany, Denmark and France.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement that Modi held a meeting to review various aspects of wheat supply, stock and exports.
They were briefed about the effect of heat on crop production in the months of March-April 2022, the statement said. Along with this, the purchase and export of wheat was reviewed.
In view of the growing demand for India’s agricultural products, the Prime Minister directed that all steps be taken to ensure quality norms and standards. He also called for developing India as a sure source of food grains and other agricultural products.
Modi also asked the officials to extend maximum help to the farmers.
The PMO said that the Prime Minister was also informed about the prevailing market rates, which are beneficial for the farmers.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Advisor, Cabinet Secretary, Food and Public Distribution Department and Secretaries of Agriculture Department.
