Former US Open champion Marin Cilic of Croatia defeated Tommy Paul of America 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 to reach the semi-finals of the second Adelaide International tennis tournament. Fourth seed Cilic has won four out of five matches this year. Earlier last week, Cilic reached the semi-finals of the Adelaide International in which he was defeated by Karen Khachanov of Russia.
In the women’s section, third seed Coco Go of the United States defeated Anna Konju of Croatia 6-3, 6-4 to make it to the last four. At the Sydney Tennis Classic, fourth-seeded Estonia’s Annette Kontavet won the first set of the quarterfinals against Tunisia’s Ons Jabour when Jabour had to leave the court due to a groin injury. Kontavet will now face third seed Barbora Krejcikova, who defeated France’s Caroline Garcia 6-0, 6-2. In the men’s section, top seed Aslan Karatsev defeated fifth seed Lorenzo Sonego 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.
