Today, the 28-year-old central defender of the Paraguayan national team Junior Alonso, who recently played for the Brazilian Atlético Mineiro, has officially become a player of Krasnodar. This was reported on the evening of January 12 in the press service of the bulls.
“Alonso signed a contract with Krasnodar, which will be valid until June 30, 2025, according to information posted on the website of the Kuban club. – A few days ago, the parties reached an agreement in principle, and today the last formalities were settled. The Paraguayan defender will wear number 12 for the Bulls.”
The player’s transfer cost the Bulls, according to Brazilian media, about 8 million euros.
The pupil of the club “Cerro Porteño” made his debut in the Paraguayan Example in 2013, becoming the country’s champion in its composition. Then in his football career there were performances for the French “Lille”, the Spanish “Celta”, the famous “Boca Juniors” (he won the championship of Argentina 2019/20). And then he signed a contract with Atlético Mineiro. As part of this team, he won the Brazilian championship 2020/21, having also won the prestigious personal trophy – Bola de Prato (“Silver Ball”), as one of the best defenders in the league.”
Junior Alonso is the base football player of the Paraguayan national team, he played 44 matches for the national team of his country and scored two goals.
As we have already mentioned, experts note his excellent positional play in the center of defense, the ability to start attacks with long and accurate passes to the front line, as well as an indomitable fighting character. With his arrival, “Krasnodar” is going to radically improve the game in defense: due to the regular gross mistakes of their defenders, the “bulls” regularly lose the most important points.
By the way, Krasnodar players arrived this afternoon for their first training camp in the capital of the United Arab Emirates – the city of Dubai. It is expected that the new head coach of the Bulls, Daniel Farke, will join them here: according to Sky Sports, the German specialist has already agreed a two-year contract with the Kuban team and it will be signed in the near future.
But Junior Alonso (on Wednesday he was introduced to the players of his new team and had his first training session with them) will soon have to leave Krasnodar: the player has been called up for the qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup in the South American group, in which the Paraguayan national team is on its field 28 January will host Uruguay, and February 2 will play on the road with Brazil.
