For this, the central government is now making a new plan to make Covovax available to all private centers. In this regard, some provisions are being made on the CoWIN platform.
Recently the Government’s Expert Panel on Immunization has recommended Kovovax for adolescents in the age group of 12-17 years. Subsequently, Prakash Kumar Singh, Director of Government and Regulatory Affairs, SII, wrote to the Union Health Ministry urging them to use Covovax for immunization of adolescents aged 12 to 17 years.
The nationwide vaccination campaign started from January 16 last year. Under this, more than 189.41 crore vaccine doses have been given so far in the fight against Kovid.
According to the Health Ministry, more than 2.94 crore (2,94,30,754) adolescents in the age group of 12-14 years have been given the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The ministry has informed that similarly 2,85,94,434 prevention doses of Kovid-19 have been given to the eligible persons. These include healthcare workers, frontline workers, the elderly above 60 years of age and the population group in the age group of 18-59 years.
