Joe Root considering entering IPL auction

Highlights

  • Time is short but I have many things to think about – Joe Root
  • Before the upcoming season, the big IPL auction is going to be held in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13.
  • Starc also said on Wednesday that he is considering a return to the IPL despite the busy schedule ahead.

England Test captain Joe Root has revealed that he is looking to re-enter the lucrative league auction after missing out on any team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction four years ago. Root, considered one of the greats of the game in the current era, was not bid by any team in the IPL auction in 2018. He has not been a part of this dazzling league since then.

The 31-year-old batsman, however, said that he would like to play in this league only if it does not affect his Test career. “Time is short but I have a lot of things to think about,” Root told ESPNcricinfo.com.

He said, “Will this have a negative effect on my playing Test cricket? If I don’t think so, I will put myself up for auction. But I would never do anything that would disturb playing Test cricket for England. Very sure of that. It’s important because it’s a priority for me and other players.”
