What is Gilt Fund?

In this fund managers invest your money mainly in government securities issued by the Reserve Bank of India for the government. The two funds that we are mentioning have given better returns in the last 5 years.

Edelweiss Government Securities

Edelweiss Government Securities Fund Direct Plan Growth is a gilt mutual fund. It invests in government securities. It was launched by Edelweiss Mutual Fund on 13 February 2014. Its asset under management i.e. AUM is Rs 112.09 crore. Its Net Asset Value as on May 13, 2022 was Rs 20.4872. The scheme has given an average annual return of 9.08 per cent since its launch.

Minimum investment of Rs 5,000

If you want to invest lumpsum in this fund, then the minimum investment amount is Rs 5,000, while you can start SIP with Rs 500. There is no lock-in period in this fund. This means that you can withdraw money anytime. Rating agency CRISIL has given it a 5-star rating. This shows that it has given loans to those borrowers whose quality is very good. Its top holdings are in Reserve Bank of India, Government of India, Government of Kerala and Gujarat.

DAP Government Securities Fund

DSP Government Securities Fund Direct Plan is also a gilt fund, which invests in government securities. This fund was launched on 30 September 1999. The fund size is Rs 412.37 crore.

Its net asset value as on May 13, 2022 was Rs 79.1551. Crisil has also given it a 5 star rating. This means that the risk of losing money in it is less. The fund has given an average return of 8.02 per cent since its launch.
