Information Technology Minister inaugurates five NIELIT centers in Northeast

New Delhi, May 6 (PTI) Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Chandrashekhar on Friday inaugurated five centers of NIELIT in the Northeast for skill development of educated youth.

According to an official release, the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) has five centers located at Dibrugarh, Dimapur, Jorhat, Pasighat and Senapati.

Inaugurating these five NIELIT centers in the Northeast, Chandrashekhar termed them as the ‘gateway’ to the prosperity of the youth in the region.

After inaugurating the centers in Dimapur, he said, “We are the country which has produced 100 ‘unicorns’ (startups with a valuation of over $1 billion) i.e. 100 billionaires. They are all young people, who have worked hard and studied, made new discoveries, created wealth and prosperity for themselves. This is the new India.”

The Union Minister said, “When we say New India today, it means new opportunities and new prosperity. This means that the new unicorn will be from Nagaland, Kohima, Jorhat or any such place. These are all your abilities.
