After that the temperature in these regions will drop down and there will be relief from heat wave. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General of Meteorology in the Indian Meteorological Department said that heat wave conditions will continue in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Vidarbha on Sunday as well. These areas recorded a temperature of 40 to 46 degree Celsius on Saturday. Due to this, red and orange warnings were issued for parts of Rajasthan, MP and Haryana. He said that the temperature will drop in these areas from Monday, May 16. According to Mohapatra, a Western Disturbance will arise in Northwest India on the night of May 15. On the other hand, incessant rain in Assam’s Guwahati has caused waterlogging at many places.
Chance of rain in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh today
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is likely to remain dry and hot in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh in the next 24 hours. “Hot and dry weather is likely over Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh during the next 24 hours,” an official of the Meteorological Department said. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in Srinagar was 14.2 degrees Celsius, Pahalgam 5.8 and Gulmarg 9 degrees Celsius. Talking about the temperature, the minimum temperature in Ladakh was 0.6 degrees in Drass, 6.0 in Leh and 8.2 degrees in Kargil. The minimum temperature in Jammu was 23.3 degrees, Katra 23.9, Batote 17.9, Banihal 14.2 and Bhaderwah 13.2 degrees Celsius.
Rain likely in Tamil Nadu till May 17
The IMD has predicted heavy rains in many districts of Tamil Nadu till May 17. According to the forecast released on Saturday, rain and thundershowers are possible over Salem, Dharmapuri, Tiruchi, Perambalur, Namakkal and Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu. Moderate to heavy rain is expected in Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Kallakurichi, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Tirupattur and Vellore areas in the coming days.
The maximum temperature is likely to be 34 degree Celsius and the minimum is 24 degree Celsius. Velankanni received the highest rainfall on Friday, followed by Talwadi and Yercaud. The Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu has directed all District Collectors, Rapid Response Force, Emergency Departments, Police, Revenue and Health officials to be on high alert after the report of the Meteorological Department.
