Have a look: Tata Nexon EV vs Tata Nexon EV Max, Features and Specifications Comparison – News

Continuing its dominance in the EV category, Tata Motors recently launched the Nexon EV Max with a starting price tag of Rs 17.74 lakh (ex-showroom), along with Tata India It has become the only car manufacturer in India to have three EVs in its lineup in India.

The Tata Nexon EV is an upgraded version in almost every aspect including the Max range and performance. Today we take a look at the changes and updates made in Tata Nexon EV Max compared to Nexon EV and know which of the two EV car is superfast.

Talking about their design, there is no big difference between the two variants of Nexon EV. However, the Nexon EV Max gets new dual-tone five-spoke alloys and comes with standard dual-tone paint in intensity-teal, pristine white and Daytona gray options. Comes with (Standard Dual-Tone Paint, In Intensi-Teal, Pristine White and Daytona Gray options), while the Standard Dark Edition is only offered in Teal Blue, White or Black as part of the package.

Battery and Charging Time

The biggest change in both the vehicles can be credited to the battery pack. While the Nexon EV comes with a 30.2 kWh battery, Tata Motors has managed to pack a bigger 40.5 kWh battery in the Nexon EV Max. This is an increase of about 33 per cent and has resulted in a 40 per cent increase in the range of the vehicle. The regular Nexon EV has an ARAI certified range of 312km while the enhanced version of the SUV has a range of 437km.

Even the charging time of both the vehicles is different. The Nexon EV Max supports both 3.3kW and 7.2kW AC charging. The larger charger can charge the Nexon EV Max in 6.5 hours while the regular version can be charged in 8.5 hours. The 7.2kWh charger can be used with the older Nexon EV but it will still charge slower as the car doesn’t support faster charging rates. Using a DC charger will charge the battery from 0 to 80 percent in 60 minutes for the Nexon EV and 56 minutes for the Nexon EV Max.

Motor Specifications and Driving Dynamics

The older Nexon EV is powered by a 127bhp motor that produces 170Nm of torque. The new Nexon EV Max bumps up those numbers to 140.7bhp and 250Nm. As a result, the 0-100 kmph time has been reduced from 9.9 seconds to less than 9 seconds. The top speed has been increased from 120kmph to 140kmph. While the regular Nexon EV gets disc brakes at the front wheel and drum brakes at the rear, the Nexon EV Max gets disc brakes all around. Apart from this, the Nexon EV Max is also about 100kg heavier.

EV Max gets new driving modes

Another new addition to the Nexon EV Max is the multi-mode region. Users can manipulate the level of regenerative braking on the vehicle and even turn it off completely. This was not the case with the older vehicle as it had only one level for the Regen system. The Nexon EV Max also gets new driving modes. From which you can choose one of three modes – Eco, City and Sport.

not much has changed from the outside

Both the vehicles look almost alike. However, a dual-tone color scheme is standard on the Nexon EV Max. In total there are three color options to choose from – Daytona Grey, Pristine White and Intense-Teal. Slight changes have been made to the alloy wheels but the size remains the same at 16 inches. Along with this, the Nexon EV Max also gets ZConnect 2.0 which adds eight new features.

The cabin gets a facelift thanks to the gear selector

Now there is an inbuilt display to show the choice of gear. The dashboard also gets a new panel with a tri-arrow motif that extends to the seat upholstery.

Price and Variants

The Nexon EV was available in five variants – XM, XZ+, XZ+ Lux, Dark XZ+ and Dark XZ+ Lux. The price of the XM variant starts at Rs 14.79 lakh and goes up to Rs 17.40 lakh for the Dark XZ+ Lux variant. However, the Nexon EV Max comes in two variants – XZ+ and XZ+ Lux. With additional kits, the Nexon EV Max starts at Rs 17.74 lakh and goes up to Rs 19.24 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom).
