New Delhi, May 6 (PTI) Union Steel Minister Ramchandra Prasad Singh on Friday urged all stakeholders to come together and make concerted efforts to reduce carbon emissions in the steel industry.
Singh expressed concern over the large quantum of carbon emissions from the domestic iron and steel sector during the meeting of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Steel held in Shimla.
During the meeting on ‘Shifting towards eco-friendly steel’, he said that the carbon emissions from the Indian iron and steel industry are mainly due to over-use of coal based energy sources.
During this, the Union Minister urged the concerned parties to prepare a time bound action plan and make concerted efforts to reduce the carbon emissions from the steel industry.
