Gold rises by Rs 559, silver by Rs 1,179

New Delhi, May 5 (PTI) Gold prices on Thursday rose by Rs 559 to Rs 51,081 per 10 grams in the Delhi bullion market in line with the trend in global markets. HDFC Securities gave this information.

Due to this, gold had closed at Rs 50,522 per 10 grams in the previous trading session.

Similarly, silver also jumped by Rs 1,179 to Rs 63,427 per kg. Silver had closed at Rs 62,248 per kg in the previous trading session.

In the international market, gold prices rose to USD 1,893 an ounce while silver remained almost unchanged at USD 22.95 an ounce.

HDFC Securities Senior Analyst (Commodities) Tapan Patel said, “Spot gold was up 0.61 per cent at $1,893 an ounce on the New York-based commodity exchange COMEX on Thursday, keeping gold prices firm. Gold prices rose after the US FOMC (Federal Open Market Committee) meeting, with the dollar index falling below a five-year high.
