Foreign, domestic companies involved in food exhibition: TPCI


New Delhi, Jan 14 (PTI) Over 350 domestic exporters and over 800 buyers from different countries participated in the three-day food exhibition that concluded on January 10 at Greater Noida near the national capital. The Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI) gave this information on Friday.

TPCI also informed that business deals worth around $1 billion were signed during the fifth edition of the ‘IndusFood 2022’ food exhibition. This ‘food show’ was organized by the government under the covid ‘protocol’ (rules and regulations).

Some of the major buyers, supermarkets and distributors participating in the exhibition included Nesto Hypermarket (GCC), Gala (UAE), Grand Hypermarket (GCC), Jalil Cash & Carry (UAE), National Food Company (Saudi Arabia), Fortune Five .

Buyers from various countries including UAE, Saudi Arabia, Canada, USA, Egypt and Bangladesh participated in the exhibition.

Bhagwant Khuba, Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers inaugurated the India Exposition Mart exhibition on January 8 in Greater Noida.

The statement quoted the minister as saying, “India’s products are being preferred all over the world…whatever the world demands, we can fulfill it.”

Vivek Agarwal, chairman, Food and Beverage Committee of TPCI, said India’s exports of agricultural and processed food products grew by more than 20 per cent in April-December 2021-22 as compared to the same period of 2020-21.

India accounts for only 2 per cent of the global exports of food products. Therefore, the region has great potential to be included in the top 10 largest global markets.
