Facebook ‘action’ on around 21.6 million content in March: Meta report

New Delhi, May 4 (PTI) Meta-owned Facebook processed around 2.16 crore content in India during March. The action was taken in 13 violation categories, according to a monthly report by the social media giant.

These categories include spam, bullying and harassment, hostile to children, dangerous organizations and individuals, violent and graphic content, and adult pornography and sexual activity.

According to the recently released India Monthly Report by Meta, Facebook took action against 21.6 million content across categories between March 1-31, 2022. During this time Instagram processed about 2.7 million content across 12 categories.

Under the IT regulations that came into force in May last year, large digital forums are required to publish compliance reports every month. This report details the complaints received by them and the action taken on them.

According to the latest report, out of a total of 21.6 million actions taken in the case of Facebook, 14.9 million were in the spam category, 2.5 million in the violent and graphic content category and 2.1 million in the adult pornography and sexual activity category.

The report said that between March 1 and March 31, 656 reports were received through the Indian grievance mechanism and Facebook responded to all of them.
