Electricity demand reached 5,104 MW in this winter season in Delhi


New Delhi, Jan 15 (PTI) Delhi’s electricity demand rose to 5,104 MW on Friday night as temperatures eased, surpassing last year’s winter high. Officials of power distribution companies gave this information on Saturday.

The maximum power demand in the winter of 2021 was 5,021 MW. Data from the State Load Despatch Center (SLDC) showed that power demand reached 5,104 MW at 10.29 pm on Friday.

A BSES spokesperson said that BSES DISCOMs, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited and BSES Rajdhani Power Limited successfully met this season’s highest power demand of 2,140 MW and 1,114 MW in their respective regions on January 14.

A Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) spokesperson said the company has met 1,606 MW of power demand without any network constraints.

Officials said the maximum power demand recorded in December 2021 was 4,685 MW. This demand was filed on 31 December 2021.
