‘Dictatorship, hooliganism’, ‘attempt to hide corruption’… BJP-Congress war of words on ED interrogation of Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi : Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi is being questioned by the ED for the third consecutive day in the National Herald money laundering case. Against this, Congress workers are also continuing ‘Satyagraha’ outside the ED office for the third consecutive day. Meanwhile, the Congress has accused the Delhi Police of entering the office and beating up the leaders and workers. While Congress is calling it the peak of dictatorship, BJP, on the other hand, is dismissing its allegations and terming it as an ‘attempt to hide corruption’.

Congress’s allegation- Police entered the office and beat up the workers
Congress’s chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala alleged, ‘Delhi Police, the stigma of the BJP and the Modi government, has crossed every limit of hooliganism. At the behest of the BJP, the police entered the Congress headquarters by breaking the doors and thrashed the leaders and workers. Now the democracy seems to have been murdered, the Constitution has been trampled under bulldozers, only the rule of tyranny remains.’ He demanded registration of a case against the policemen and disciplinary action against them. However, Delhi Police has vehemently denied these allegations. Surjewala announced that Congress workers would gherao Raj Bhavans across the country on Thursday.

Dictatorship extreme, a blot on democracy… Congress’s attack on Modi government
Several Congress leaders protesting against ED’s interrogation of Rahul Gandhi were taken into custody by the police. The Congress, enraged by the ED’s action, has called it the dictatorship of the Modi government. Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor said that the ruling party never behaved like this, BJP should remember this. Political parties have the right to protest and trying to suppress the performance of Congress is a blot on democracy.

Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury questioned whether India has become a Banana Republic. He said, ‘Yeh kya banana republic has become what? Is it not democracy? This is the peak of dictatorship. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel also attacked the Modi government and said that efforts are being made to suppress us with the help of sticks, but we will not be afraid.

This shows how dwarf Congress has become: Sundhanshu Trivedi
BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi has termed the Congress protests as an attempt to hide corruption. He said, “The kind of actions that are visible for the last three days and there is an attempt to hide corruption under the guise of violence…the smallness of the leadership is visible.” It is clearly visible how small and dwarf Congress has become from Gandhi’s era to Sonia and Rahul Gandhi’s era.
