CBI raids 40 locations for giving FCRA certificates to NGOs, Home Ministry officials also on radar

New Delhi: CBI is continuously raiding (CBI Raid FCRA Violation) in the matter of giving FCRA certificates to NGOs across the country. In its action, the CBI has raided 40 locations across the country on Tuesday, including locations in Delhi, Rajasthan, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mysore. In this case, the CBI has detained some people including officials and representatives of NGOs. 2 crore rupees have also been recovered during the search. It is believed that these have been collected through hawala.

What the CBI officials told during the investigation
In this action, CBI officials told that many officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs, representatives of NGOs and middlemen were involved in this. FCRA 2010 has been violated. Officials said that they had transacted money to receive foreign donations. The CBI has arrested 6 people including officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs and representatives of NGOs in connection with this case.

When did the CBI raid
The raids were carried out by the agency after the officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs themselves raised suspicion of involvement of some officials of their own department. Ministry officials said that we have complained about this under PM Modi’s policy of zero tolerance against corruption. The agency will also investigate it from the point of view of money laundering.
