Karti Chidambaram returned from the trip on Wednesday. He reached the CBI office at around 8 am on Thursday to answer questions related to the case. Karti told reporters outside the CBI headquarters that the case against him was fake. Karti claimed that he did not help any Chinese national in getting a visa. Karti Chidambaram was given leave of about an hour in the afternoon after which the questioning resumed. Congress MP Karti Chidambaram was questioned till around 6 pm. Coming out after a thorough interrogation, Karti Chidambaram said it was all a political vendetta and he would appear again if the agencies called him.
Government has already taken Bhaskararaman into custody
The CBI FIR said that the case involved Karti Chidambaram and his close aide S.K. Bhaskararaman was given a bribe of Rs 50 lakh. TSPL was setting up a power plant in Punjab. These 263 Chinese nationals were employees of the company which was working on the said project. The agency has already taken Bhaskararaman into custody in this case.

Karti Chidambaram has refuted all the allegations, saying, “If this is not harassment, then what is not intentional harassment.” Karti was contacted through a close aide Bhaskararaman. He said Makhria had reportedly submitted a letter to the home ministry seeking approval to reuse the project visa allotted to this company, which was approved within a month and the company was given permission.
According to the CBI FIR it has also been alleged that the said bribe was paid from Talwandi Sabo to Karti and Bhaskararaman through Mumbai-based Bell Tools Ltd., for payment of false challans to the consultancy and for works related to Chinese visas. Shown as an expense.
