Kolkata, May 5 (PTI) Byju’s will invest USD 200 million over the next two years to expand its digital and ‘offline’ tutoring business. A senior company official gave this information on Thursday.
Byju’s raised $800 million (about Rs 6,000 crore) in March from investors such as Sumeru Ventures, Vitruvian Partners and BlackRock, with a total valuation of $22 billion.
Himanshu Bajaj, Head of Tuition Center of the company said, “We will invest $200 million over the next two years to rapidly expand the tuition center model. At present we have 100 centers in 23 cities, and by December we will have 500 centers in 190 cities.
Byju’s Tuition Center is a program for students, which has been available ‘offline’ as well as its ‘online’ model since November last year.
Bajaj said Bengal continues to be one of the top three markets for the company and will soon expand to smaller towns in the state.
