A presentation of new AMD products took place in China. According to the source, it concerned local retailers and distributors. And as part of the event, a company representative confirmed the date of entry into the market of motherboards with socket AM5 for Ryzen 7000 processors, as well as the processors themselves.
According to one of the presentation slides, the new processors and boards will go on sale on September 15th. Thus, new CPUs will appear a month earlier than the Radeon 7000 series of graphics cards.
The new processors will be based on the Zen4 architecture with up to 16 cores and will be manufactured on TSMC’s optimized 5nm process technology. They will require an LGA1718 socket (aka AM5), new chipsets (X670E, X670 and B650), and will also support DDR5 and PCIe Gen5 RAM
The new chips are credited with overclocking to 5 GHz and beyond, as well as improvements of up to 15% in single-threaded computing.
