Amidst protests against the Agneepath scheme, the Ministry of Home Affairs tweeted that it is important to reserve 10% vacancies for Agniveers who have completed 4 years under the Agneepath scheme in recruitments in CAPFs and Assam Rifles. The ministry further said that they have decided to give 3 years relaxation in the maximum entry age limit prescribed to Agniveers for recruitment in CAPFs and Assam Rifles and 5 years for the first batch of Agneepath scheme.
Will retire now at the age of 23, not 21
The maximum age limit for recruitment in the three services under the Agneepath scheme has been increased from 21 years to 23 years. A Defense Ministry spokesperson said, “Keeping in view the fact that recruitment has not been possible during the last two years, the government has decided that one-time relaxation (in age limit) will be given for the proposed recruitment process for 2022.” He said that the upper age limit for the 2022 recruitment process under the Agneepath scheme has been increased to 23 years.
