Agnipath Scheme: Another gift of Union Home Ministry to Agniveers, 10% reservation in CAPF and Assam Rifles

New Delhi: A day after the decision to increase the maximum age limit of the youth to be recruited under the Agnipath scheme from 21 years to 23 years, the central government has made another big announcement on Saturday. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (HMO India) in its new order has decided to reserve 10% vacancies for Agniveers for recruitment in CAPFs and Assam Rifles. Agniveers were given 3 years relaxation in upper age limit for recruitment in two forces. Age relaxation will be 5 years from the upper age limit for the first batch of Agniveer. The Ministry of Home Affairs gave this information by tweeting.

Amidst protests against the Agneepath scheme, the Ministry of Home Affairs tweeted that it is important to reserve 10% vacancies for Agniveers who have completed 4 years under the Agneepath scheme in recruitments in CAPFs and Assam Rifles. Has decided. The ministry further said that they have decided to give 3 years relaxation in the maximum entry age limit prescribed to Agniveers for recruitment in CAPFs and Assam Rifles and 5 years for the first batch of Agneepath scheme.

Will retire now at the age of 23, not 21
The maximum age limit for recruitment in the three services under the Agneepath scheme has been increased from 21 years to 23 years. A Defense Ministry spokesperson said, “Keeping in view the fact that recruitment has not been possible during the last two years, the government has decided that one-time relaxation (in age limit) will be given for the proposed recruitment process for 2022.” He said that the upper age limit for the 2022 recruitment process under the Agneepath scheme has been increased to 23 years.

The Assam Rifles was formed in the year 1835. Earlier its name was Cachar Levi. It was formed to protect British settlements and tea gardens from tribal people. It is considered to be the oldest police force in the country. Initially formed under the name of Cachar Levy, it was renamed as Assam Rifles in the year 1971. Its headquarter is in Shillong. The Assam Rifles has the dual responsibility of guarding the Indo-Myanmar border along with the internal security of the people of the Northeast region.
