Major General Binoz Basnyat, retired from the Nepal Army, says that the Gurkhas of Nepal go to the Indian Army for three reasons.
Know three reasons why Gorkhas joined the army
The first reason is personal respect, the second reason is that the family and the surrounding villagers have been going to the army which is a tradition and the third reason is an opportunity to join the Indian army. With the implementation of the Agneepath scheme, these three will remain the same and this will not make any difference to the interest of the Gorkhas of Nepal to join the Indian Army. He said that because of Kovid, the youth have not got much opportunity anyway and if the inflation has increased a lot, then the youth will not leave this opportunity. With those who join the army, they also see other opportunities as to what they will do after leaving there. He will do the same in the Agneepath scheme.
