Adani Total inducts former ONGC chief Shashi Shankar on its board

New Delhi, May 5 (PTI) Adani Total Gas Limited (ATGL) has appointed former chairman and managing director of state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) Shashi Shankar as an independent director on the board.

The company said in an information sent to the stock exchanges on Thursday that Shankar had retired as the head of ONGC on March 31, 2021. He was appointed to the Board of Directors of ATGL on May 4.

“Following the recommendation of the Appointments and Remuneration Committee, Shashi Shankar has been appointed as Additional Director (Independent Non-Executive) on the Board of Directors of the company,” ATGL said.

Shankar was the chairman and managing director of public sector ONGC from October 1, 2017 to March 31, 2021.

ATGL is a joint venture between industrialist Gautam Adani-led infrastructure-to-energy conglomerate and France-based Total. This joint venture was created for the gas business in the cities. This includes CNG sold to vehicles and piped cooking gas (PNG) to households.
