AC Price Hike: From the month of July, new air conditioners with 5 star rating are expected to be expensive. Actually, from the month of July, there is a preparation for major changes in the energy rating of AC. The star rating given to ACs and refrigerators at present is being tightened, due to which the rating of all existing ACs and fridges will be reduced by one star. In such a situation, if you have bought 5 star AC in this summer season, then it will now be of only 4 stars. And to buy 5 star AC that consumes less power, you will have to pay more. It is believed that due to this, there may be an increase of 7 to 10 percent in AC prices.
5 star ac will be expensive
At present, the change in the rules of Star Rating is going to be implemented on AC from the month of July. But from January next year, this rule will also be applicable on refrigerators. It is believed that the cost of companies will increase in making ACs or refrigerators with 4 star or 5 star rating, which they will pass on to the customers, due to which AC from July month and refrigerator from January next year is bound to be expensive. With the guidelines of the new energy rating, manufacturing ACs and refrigerators will incur an additional burden of Rs 2000 to 2500 per unit on companies.
New star rating will save electricity
Energy consumption of ACs and refrigerators and change in star rating is estimated to save up to 20 percent of electricity. Consumer durables companies have 6 months to dispose of the old stock. But all new manufacturing will be with new energy consumption rating. The rule of change in the energy rating of AC was to be implemented from January 2022 itself. But due to the demand of the companies, it was postponed for 6 months.
