Even though there has been a huge reduction in ceasefire violation from Pakistan side, but Pakistan is not deterring from its antics. Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane said that proxy war is going on from Pakistan side.
He said that in February last year, India and Pakistan reached an agreement that there would be no violation of ceasefire. Although this was agreed since 2023, but Pakistan was continuously violating it. Since February last year, ceasefire violations have come down, with only two incidents of violation so far. Due to this the situation has moved towards normalization to some extent but the proxy war is going on from Pakistan side. The terrorists are still in the launch pad on the other side of the LoC. The Army Chief said that according to intelligence input, about 350-400 terrorists are in those launch pads and training camps. So the danger has not subsided and we have to remain alert. General Naravane said that this danger cannot be ignored.
Security situation has improved – Army Chief
He said that the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved. Terrorists are not getting the support of the people. That is why terrorists are targeting minorities, laborers from outside to disturb the peace there. But we are dealing with those challenges. Regarding the dangers associated with drones, the Army Chief said that drones are being used to provide logistic support to terrorists. We are aware of this menace and have taken several steps to tackle it.
Both armies face off in Siachen Glacier
General Naravane said that when Pakistan tried to capture, we also deployed there. Soldiers of India and Pakistan are face to face in the entire Siachen Glacier. The idea of reducing or removing troops can be thought of when the Actual Ground Position Line is accepted by both the countries. When Pakistan accepts its and our position and signs it. Then some kind of disengagement can happen.
